Although the House Creature newsletter is no longer on my to-do list, I was inspired by my dear friend Amanda Hanlon to use this existing platform to share updates from my studio/office. If you’d like quarterly art news from me, stay tuned, if not, feel free to click “unsubscribe.” I promise I won’t cry.
The first bit of news is extremely House Creature adjacent - I’m writing a series of blog posts for the Minnesota Horticultural Society this winter. I hope you’ll take a look and try out my recipes:
Golden Squash Sourdough Bread and Vegetable Bouillon are posted now, with three more to come before the official start of spring.
My piece, “Salsa Making” was longlisted for the 2024 Booooooom Illustration Awards. You can see the full list of winners here.
My illustrations were featured in the winter issue of Northern Gardener Magazine alongside an article about creating gardens that still look beautiful underneath snow and ice.
For the upcoming spring issue, I created some images for an article called “Zone Defense,” which you can read for free online now, even though the issue doesn’t come out for another couple of weeks. I had a fun time with this colorful assignment.
I’ve been selected to participate in the Red Wing Arts 2025 Poet-Artist collaboration. The selection committee at Red Wing Arts assigned me a poem written by a local poet and I’m currently working on a piece of art to accompany it. I’ve been working fully digitally for a long time, so I’m looking forward to creating a physical object for this show.
I can’t share the poem yet, but I will say that it is extremely wintery, so working on this piece now feels very appropriate.
Thanks for coming along for this ride! With the shifting landscape that is social media these days, a newsletter feels like a more concrete way to keep in touch. Feel free to comment on this newsletter, contact me directly, or, if you are still on socials, find me on Instagram (ttink.art) and Bluesky (ttinkart).
